About the Builder
I
am a retired Air Force pilot and also a partner and the general manager a very nice Inn here in Edgefield. My day-time job.
I've been playing electric guitars for over 40 years and have been noodling around with amps
and electronics the whole time. As early as 8th grade, I tore down a tweed amp and "miniturized" it. Who knew? In highschool,
I converted dad's Phillips reel-to-reel tube tape deck into a functional echo chamber. Actually used it on stage with my
college band. In years following, I have built ham radios and various other projects, but for the last several years, I have
been researching, studying and building or restoring guitar amps as quick as I can get the parts in here, and I love it!
Who wouldn't?
I have owned or played through all manner of amps, vintage and new, but I cannot get past that wonderful
warm tone of the old California classics, and that's what I want to keep on building.
Edgefield Tube Amplifier Company
represents my decision in October of 2004 to convert a life-long and passionate hobby into a small business.
My amps
are all hand made, one at a time -- no mass market production operation here! The Prototype, top center, was actually built
on commission for a fellow at Tacoma Guitars.
My business is licensed here in South Carolina of course, and I am
registered with some of my favorite suppliers as such, and can get prices that make this all work.
That's plenty and
too much about me, but you are welcome to email me if you have further questions.
